And They’re Off!: Mailing The Invites

The time has finally come. I can’t believe that the invites are almost finished and are ready to be prepared for the post office. Mr. Sea Monkey beautifully mastered designing the stationary for our pocketfold invites and I finished personalizing the boxes that they will be mailed in. All that was left was putting the boxes together, wrapping them up and putting our address labels on them.

I had sprayed some Hawaiian air freshener onto some brown tissue paper ahead of time. I lined the boxes with the tissue paper and placed in the RSVP envelopes, the Wedpics cards with our group info on it and some cards for our WeddingMix app. I actually handmade the WeddingMix cards by embossing my writing, since they didn’t send us cards to hand out.

All you have to do to emboss your writing is use a pen with really wet ink and dump the powder on quickly. Everyone loved them and couldn’t believe I made them myself.

My original plan was to print the instructions to the video app and then just mount that to card stock. The reason I had to make them myself was because Mr. SM ended up breaking the printer trying to print the labels. He totally “read the instructions” on how to print them. Hint: DON’T run the stickers through more than once.

Since we no longer had a printer, I had to handwrite out all the labels, as well. I embossed them and everyone thought they were the coolest thing ever.

Unfortunately, I never took those calligraphy lessons you always hear about. I recommend you take them, if you have the time, just in case. My handwriting certainly isn’t great.

Last, I placed everything in the boxes. I put the pocketfolds on top of all the little cards and the RSVP envelopes. After I placed the lids on, I wrapped all the boxes in craft paper I bought, put our address labels on and set them aside for Mr. SM to take in to the post office to see how much shipping would be. I was so nervous about the cost, because I assumed it would be a lot, since they were boxes.

Mr. SM took the afternoon off to take them in and they only ended up costing $1.99 each. I thought they would surely cost around at least $4, so don’t let fear of shipping costs deter you from using boxed invites if that’s the route you want to take.

So that’s it. It really feels like an entire chapter of my life has come to an end and another one begins. If I’m being honest, it has. It took months for this entire process to finish and now it’s over. Now I need to focus on other projects for our wedding. Now the waiting game begins. We are officially one step closer to the Big Day.
